8. Integrating the Technology

A. Long Term Goals
Students will create a portfolio of growth that will be accessible by them or any related teacher in the common department. Also as a cohesive group teachers and students will work together through the use of a NAS device sharing information, feedback and also being able to submit work. This system will be integrated into all Art/Tech Ed classes in which students generate original work as a class requirement. This also applies to materials based courses where student’s physical projects will be posted with color photographs, line drawings and their required narrative essays.

B. Teacher Requirements
Teachers in the Art/Tech Ed department will being using the NAS technology at the beginning of the 2010-2011 school year. Professional development will supportive through required monthly department meetings and the at the start of the 2010-2011 school year. The August 23 in-service day will be devoted to exploring the technology and discovering its possibilities.
Department members who teach Digital Photography, Graphic design, Technical visual communication an AP Art History will be the first to have students setup personal folders on the NAS drive. This will happen within the first few days of school, students will then be able to start saving their work there. Then at the start to the second semester, tentatively scheduled for January 23 2011, teachers who teach physical material courses will begin requiring students to store project information on the NAS. At this point not all students will need to create a personal folder, because they may have already created one in a previous class, these students will store project requirements in their existing folders.

C. Student Requirements
All students who participate in classes offered by the Art/Tech Ed department will store their personally created projects and assignments to the unique NAS device area. This information will be secured by a student selected password and backed up to a redundant drive. Students will be able to access their projects from past years in order to build upon them further or to retrieve previously researched information.
